Resistors
- R1P - R3P, R1H - R3H are 1/8W 1% Metal Film type - 7mm lead spacing.
Capacitors
- C1P, C6P, C7P are Aluminum Electrolytic - 3.5mm lead spacing 8mm diameter.
- C2P, C4P are Aluminum Electrolytic - 2mm lead spacing 5mm diameter.
- C3P is Polyester/Polypropylene Film - 5mm lead spacing 2.5mm width.
- C5P is Aluminum Electrolytic - 5mm lead spacing 12.5mm diameter.
- C8P, C9P are Aluminum Electrolytic - 5mm lead spacing 10mm diameter.
- C10P is Aluminum Electrolytic - 5mm lead spacing 12.5mm diameter.
- C11, C12P are Aluminum Electrolytic - 3.5mm lead spacing 8mm diameter.
- C13P, C14P are Polyester/Polypropylene Film - 7.5mm lead spacing 2.5mm width.
- C1H, C2H are Low Impedance Aluminum Electrolytic - 2.5mm lead spacing 6.3mm diameter.
- C3H is Low Impedance Aluminum Electrolytic - 2.5mm lead spacing 6.3mm diameter.
- C3P is Polyester/Polypropylene Film - 5mm lead spacing 2.5mm width.
- YOU MUST use Low Impedance electrolytics where specified. The LM2595 regulator WILL NOT WORK if you use normal electrolytic capacitors.
Chokes
- Use only the values specified for these chokes. These values were calculated using National Semiconductor's data sheets for this exact application. Using different values will cause the heater supply to fail.
Diodes
- D1P - D10P, D1H - D4H UF4004 or equivalent.
- D5H is 1N5820 3A 20V Schottky
Transistors
- Q1P is BC337. The “25” class that is used in the buffers can be used here.
- Q2P is BC550C. These should be the “C” class devices for best ripple rejection.
- Q3P, Q4P are MPSA42
Integrated Circuits
- ICP is 24V Fixed Positive Regulator MC7824 or equivalent.
- ICH is National Semiconductor LM2595 Buck Regulator LM2595 or equivalent.
Power Adaptor
- To handle the power requirements the adaptor should be 1A.
- If you will only be using a maximum of 300mA heaters then 800mA will substitute.
Miscellaneous
- Small panel mount SPST slide switch for switching heaters from 6.3V to 12.6V.
- Small, finned heatsink such as Mouser 532-507302B00 or Digikey HS106-ND.
- At these currents the National data sheet for the LM2595 says that it will not require heatsinking.
